Modibo Kadalie and Andrew Zonneveld sit down for a conversation about the moments that shaped their politics over decades of organizing. ABOUT THE GUESTS
Modibo Kadalie is a lifelong organizer and grassroots historian, born in Savannah, Georgia, in 1943 and raised in Riceboro. A veteran of the 1960 Atlanta sit-ins, the League of Revolutionary Black Workers, and the African Liberation Support Committee, he later taught at Savannah State and Fayetteville State universities. He’s the author of Pan-African Social Ecology (2019) and Intimate Direct Democracy (2022), both from On Our Own Authority!
Andrew Zonneveld is an independent historian, journalist, and editor from DeKalb County, Georgia, active in social movements since the early 2000s. In 2012 he co-founded On Our Own Authority! Publishing, and has edited volumes including The Commune: Paris, 1871 (2013) and Why Anarchists Don’t Vote (2022). He’s also the author of “All Will Be Equalized!”: Georgia’s Freedom Seekers of the Swamps, Backwoods, and Sea Islands, 1526–1890.
